PSYCHOGEOGRAPHY PERFORMANCE
San Dona' di Piave is a city and comune in the Metropolitan City of Venice, Veneto, northern Italy. It is one of the historical main towns of the Eastern Veneto territory, although it was totally reconstructed in the early 1920s after being heavily damaged during the World War I.
I invited the citizens of San Dona' di Piave to take a walk in their city. We have observed the relocation of commercial activities from the city centre to shopping centres built in the open countryside.
This situation leaves behind dozens of empty shop spaces. To stimulate public reflection, I held a seminar to introduce the performance. I posted signs outside the vacant shops similar to those 'TO RENT' notices, and on each of them appeared a message evocative of the five senses: Touch, Hearing, Sight, Taste and Smell.
